What is IRMAA?
Income Related Monthly Adjustment Amount
IRMAA is a surcharge added to your part B and D premium based on your MAGI from 2 years back. It will be calculated every year and a determination will be made if it applies.
If you feel that the determination is incorrect, you should call Social Security within 10 days. If you have experienced a life changing event (LCE) such as you are no longer working, you can appeal the charge, either by contacting Social Security or filing form ssa-44.
You should seek the help of a financial professional if needed.
